The Climate Change Levy implemented in April 2001 means a 0.46p per kWhr increase in the cost of clients electricity bills.
Clients need to adopt best practice to ensure that they will limit the affect on their business.
The KJM power consultancy has a number of areas it has identified which can assist clients minimising the effect of the Climate Change Levy.
Lighting
There are two forms of lighting that can be considered as follows:-
High Pressure lighting
Reduction of 30-40% of the energy consumed is saved can be achieved very easily. Fluorescent
High frequency voltage controlled lighting can provide up to 35% energy consumed compared with standard lights.
Motors
Most standard Industrial motors are running at less than 50% full load. When fitted to almost any AC Induction motor Intelligent Motor Optimisers can produce energy savings of between 10 and 30%. Usually, with a payback of less than 2 years. They are recognised by the Energy Efficiency Council and is an auditable asset for ISO 14001 1996.
Lubrication
Oil technology has improved greatly in recent years. An oil called Energester when added to any general lubricant will improve the friction levels of the oil. This means that less energy is consumed in producing the same output. Energester can save between 4% to 15% depending on application and has a payback period of typically 24 days in industrial compressors.
This product can be used in any vehicle to increase mileage per gallon in Diesel or Petrol cars. |
